About

Perspective preserves agency.

Future Memory follows developments across technology, business, institutions and everyday life, and keeps track of how they connect. Some things only make sense when you see them next to each other, and some only make sense a year later.

It isn't a news feed and it doesn't make predictions. It's a record you can come back to: what happened, how we read it at the time, and what changed after.

How it works

Signals
Short pieces on what a development means, written when there's something worth saying. Each one ends with what would change the reading.
The Index
The subjects we follow, each with a dated timeline of developments, its sources, and why it connects to other subjects.
Precedents
Developments that could set a rule for what comes next. Each has a status that changes, in public, as things move.

Standards

Evidence is labeled
Every development says whether we read the original document, confirmed it in reporting, or are describing one side's claim.
Changes are dated, not hidden
When we update a Signal or a precedent's status, the earlier version stays visible with the date it changed.
How AI is used
AI tools help with research, source-checking and drafting; every Signal is written or approved by Nick, and every factual claim is checked against its source before it's published.
Independent
No sponsored content; Future Memory's editorial choices are separate from any commercial work by Shloov.

Where it comes from

Future Memory grew out of The Shloov Report, eight editions of longer essays published by Shloov. Those editions stay where they are, at shloov.ai.
